Beautiful vintage mid-century Fenton Silver Crest bowl features an opaque white milk glass body with a hand-crimped, ruffled clear glass trim. Authentic pre-1970s unsigned piece with a Smooth pontil-free base. The hand-crimped or "ruffled" edge was manually shaped while the glass was still hot, meaning no two ruffles are identical. Approx. 9” diameter x 3” tall (the tallest ruffle). No chips, cracks, or cloudiness. Perfect as a centerpiece or holiday serving dish.
This piece is authentic and first introduced by Fenton in 1942. Because it lacks a bottom stamp, this bowl was manufactured prior to 1970, which is when Fenton officially began molding their oval script logo into the glass. This technique of layering a clear ribbon of glass over a white milk glass ruffled edge was distinctively Fenton and rarely replicated.
