This set of minimalist, unglazed porcelain bird figurines was created by the Taizé Community in Burgundy, France. These authentic matte white Taizé "doves" (Oiseaux de Taizé) are iconic symbols of peace, produced by the community's ecumenical monastic pottery workshop. One figurine includes the community's signature stamp: a stylized letter "T" the official workshop maker's mark of La Poterie de Taizé. In 1949, the pottery workshop collectively crafted these standardized molded porcelain figures in their molding workshop. Pristine condition without chips or marks. Height is 3 ½”.
